Julie Crews’ enthusiastic view of the world around her is hard not to sense upon viewing her work. Growing from childhood in the rural southern United States has undoubtedly left its mark on her work and sense of expression. The small, simple and oft times poor things in life are an encouraging and somewhat restive inspiration in her work. She used to be very concerned that the time she spent painting was selfishness, but as her family has grown and the demands of life increased, she has realized that painting is absolutely not a selfish activity, but on the contrary, an act of giving. Sharing her talents with others drives her to improve, and allows for a richer and deeper life experience. She lives in Ruston, LA with her scientific husband, her four spritely children and a very naughty puppy.
